said rising unemployment and the rising cost of living average homeless figures is unlikely to improve in the short term
New Year's Day, nearly 70,000 children in England wakes up in temporary accommodation without the security of a home, according to shelter homeless charity.
Every two minutes someone in Britain lost his home and shelter says she can take a minor setback such as illness or job loss pushing families in a spiral of debt and despair.
The organization states that as more families find their finances squeezed by the cost of living and rising unemployment, many others will be pushed to the brink of homelessness in the first months of 2012 .
According to government figures highlighted by the charity, there are 69,846 children living in England in temporary accommodation such as hotels, bed and breakfast and shelter. Many of them will be forced to move several times with their families in the coming months and in some cases may have to wait years before finding a permanent place to live.
The figures show that 35,680 families were accepted as homeless by local authorities since the beginning of 2011.
Campbell Robb, executive director of the shelter, said: "The greatest tragedy is that the digits of the year to date are 13% higher than this time last year the reality is that it is a destination I could. happen to anyone of us.
"And with rising unemployment, rising fuel bills and a continuous contraction of the cost of living, the image is unlikely to improve in the short term.
"We know very well that they are homeless or living every day under the constant threat of homelessness is a horrible experience that can tear families apart. That is why we will do everything we can to help those who struggle. "
A survey commissioned by the crisis this month revealed that one in four people in Britain were concerned about losing their home. Activists fear that the cuts to subsidize housing for young people in January could push harder to sleep on the street.
In Manchester, the number of homeless has increased dramatically in the last year, according to a small charity that helps homeless people.
Barnabas, a Christian charity based in northern England, says it is to help 600 people a week, about a quarter of them had recently lost their jobs and an increase of third in the over 18 months ago.
Peter Green, founder and project director, said the coalition government's policies were making life very difficult for people. "The challenge was brought by these policies. Many jobs are lost, people lose their homes. There is only one place to go if you do not have family, which is in the streets, "he said.
"housing benefit changes will be absolutely devastating for the young, especially when they are struggling to survive. Cup of these benefits is cruel. "
- apathy toward the homeless was evident when 20 volunteers spent a Saturday making a collection of the street on Market Street recently.
- "We have 300 lbs. It was well worth the effort, "said Green. "As a charity we do not do the job is glamorous, who are well, the lower end.
Falling in love Center, David, 60, said every night lying on the arc of a church in Withington, in disused warehouse in Manchester or outside of the gym - anywhere I could find some rest and privacy.
"I lost my home in Fallowfield," he said. "I was in Strangeways and took all my clothes, personal effects, photos and CD, and since then have been homeless people.
"Basically, everything happened so fast. Tuesday, I had a house and property and the next day they left.
