The agreement opens new opportunities for farmers, small businesses and jobs in the transportation and marketing

Wednesday, the European Union and the United States announced an historic partnership to make it easier to trade in organic foods, creating opportunities for organic farmers and ranchers, small businesses and jobs in packaging, shipping, and marketing on both sides of the Atlantic.

The new agreement will take effect on June 1, allows certified organic products in the EU to be sold in the U.S. and vice versa, eliminating significant barriers for producers. Currently, a separate certificate is required, ie additional costs and bureaucracy for organic farmers. To help reduce paperwork and costs, the arrangement is simple in objective. It is recognized that the EU and the United States of credible certification systems for organic products and we share common views on what constitutes organic production

The association also provides a solid foundation from which we will promote organic farming and the benefits to the organic industry worldwide. Removing barriers to organic farmers and businesses, we give our producers better access to the two most important markets worldwide for organic products, valued at about £ 40000000000 combined with 800 million consumers increasingly seek food organic high quality.

more importantly, the new agreement demonstrates something more refreshing: the EU and the U.S. can work and cooperate closely in agricultural policy. To prepare for this agreement was reached to fund on-site audits to ensure that our regulations, measures of quality control, certification, and labeling practices are compatible.
