A look at the route of attack - in the center to the left or right - for teams in the Premier League during the season
in a singles match, it is easy to see that one side has a bias towards one side in particular. In Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Newcastle, the home team constantly attacked by the right, large living room with Theo Walcott on that flank, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moves within the left.
It was a surprise when she looked at the opposition, Newcastle was likely to be safer down on your left (where Jonas Gutierrez defender protects your order) on the right side, when Hatem Ben Arfa was sent unruly reluctantly.
However, the bias to the right, while exaggerated in this game is actually typical of Arsenal this season and in recent years. This season, the game 37% on the right, 30% and 33% left in midfield. Both goals came against Newcastle after his cross from the right, and Alan Pardew - a coach who loves statistics and analysis of the opposition before games - they were aware of the threat. Stop the danger, of course, is another matter.
With this in mind, a look at the route of attack for each team in the Premier League season, WhoScored statistics, is interesting. If the balance is more important than the symmetry, the parties have great freedom to flank attack by a lot more than the other, and there are many variations between the teams.
Here is a graph showing the percentage of offensive play on the left, center and right side for each club in the Premier League:
Obviously, the graph is difficult to read with many lines close to each other, and the obvious conclusion is that many leading side in the same way - if the ball in the center, which spreads the game on the sides and proceed from there.
However, there are some obvious exceptions to this rule, and in some places stand out. These are the six sides of the approach that is of interest highlighted in different colors:
Orange.
wolves that attack on the left more than any other team
Gray.
Stoke, attacking from the right, more than any other team
Black:.
Fulham, the only team to attack more in the middle than the sides
Blue:. Everton attack the center so that any other team
Pink:. Arsenal, rising steadily to the right
- green:.
- Blackburn, rising steadily to the left
All these examples have their reasons. Wolves play through its left end Matt Jarvis (despite a disappointing season compared to 2010-11), then I usually play on this flank. In fact, he has a permanent establishment of the right - not one player has not started more than six times this season
Stoke on the right side is somewhat surprising given that Matthew Etherington had a better season than Jermaine Pennant, and generally keeps everything on the left. The right of the Stoke area is one of the teams, where the seats are at stake, it is therefore surprising that most of the game focuses on this flank.
