I'm sure most readers of The Guardian agrees that the rules that protect our health and wildlife in the world worth preserving, even if not always increase the GDP. However, it seems necessary to remind ministers. They asked the public to visit the Cabinet Office Challenge "bureaucracy" site on September 21 commenting that environmental regulations should be eliminated to encourage economic growth. This is an opportunity to send a message to the government for laws to protect the environment can actually do for a healthier population and a more efficient economy. Regulation is essential to provide certainty for long-term investors should make decisions about which markets to develop and where they expect growth. It keeps our food supply, agriculture and drinking water and uncontaminated. And protect our remaining wildlife.
Guardian readers should visit the "challenge of bureaucracy," the website and express their views to ensure the right regulatory structure remains - one that can guide investment in the most appropriate to offer the "green economy", the government promised.
