Many people have already written Republican Jon Huntsman 's run for the White House. But his willingness to defend his record as an environmentalist - at a time when other Republicans are fleeing from them - Huntsman suggests itself doesn 't his chances in the race for the party' s nomination in 2012. Maybe he 's destined to go with his smoking gun: a green kamikaze Republicans.

Huntsman, a former governor of Utah, which until just a few months, Barack Obama 's Ambassador to China, was the keynote speaker at a dinner by the Republicans for the Environment on Thursday evening.

Huntsman used the appearance, to reaffirm his faith in the preservation and go about his efforts as governor of Utah government vehicles to switch to natural gas.

"Conservation is conservative," Huntsman told the group that had less than 200 people at dinner. "Not ashamed I 'm, a conservationist."
He added: "I also believe that science should be driving our discussions on climate change". © Guardian News & Media Limited 2011 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More Feeds
