- Worse biting spiders spread northwards in Britain as the weather warms. Steatoda nobilis is a cousin of the black widow and, although much less toxic, still can give a painful bite, more like a wasp sting. Originally from the Canary Islands, arrived in Devon in the 1800s before gradually spread along the southern coast, but over the last 20 years has worked in the south of England.
- Other black widow from here is Mediterranean green fangs spider tube. Until the 1990s, the big spider fled to southern ports, but in recent years has moved north and has now come to Manchester. This spider comes home and threatened if sometimes lifts his legs, bares fangs and can move quickly in a single jump and bite.
